Being safe can also be fun with this colorful Disney-themed bicycle gear for girls. The value pack includes a pink bike helmet and matching purple and pink knee and elbow pads, all adorned with everyone's favorite princesses, Snow White, Cinderella, and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The hardshell helmet is made of tough ABS plastic and lined with EPS foam padding designed to hug the head and absorb impact should she take a fall. The helmet also features a built-in visor to protect young eyes and several large air vents to prevent overheating, especially in hot weather. The knee and elbow pads are made of soft, comfortable nylon and have hard-plastic shells on the outside to guard against bumps and scrapes. The pads secure in back of knees or elbows with two Velcro tabs. The bicycle helmet is approved the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's standards for riders aged five and older.

I bought this helmet for my nearly 5 year old daughter a few days ago, as she had outgrown her toddler helmet. She picked this one out of all the princess designs they had (and they had a few).
The helmet is made of a plastic shell surrounding a 7/8" densely packed wall of Styrofoam. It is not typical packing material type Styrofoam which we can break off and peel into little balls of plastic. It is packed rock solid and would be uncomfortable if not for the fact that there are strips of a softer foam inside to cushion the child's head. The foam strips are secured by dots of Velcro hooks, so that they can be repositioned if necessary. There are no adjustments to be made for head size. If you need a helmet that has those adjustments, look elsewhere.
The straps are made of soft nylon. They are easily adjustable. They fit comfortably and are not stiffer than any other helmet we own.
The package does read "knee or elbow pads" and it only comes with one set of pads. We didn't buy this for the pads, since we have so many already; but someone buying this as a set be warned. My daughter has a full set of princess knee and elbow pads from her skate set, and the pads provided with the helmet are the size of those knee pads. Of course, there is nothing wrong with using them as elbow pads, just wanted to give an idea of the size of those pads.
My daughter has two helmets to choose from and she always chooses this one. It's a nice helmet.
UPDATE:
My daughter is 5 1/2 now and the helmet fits better now than it did just half a year ago. I do wish this helmet has adjustments for the head, but it only comes with the required chin straps. Other than that, this helmet works fine and looks great. My daughter still loves it.

We purchased this helmet for our daughter's 5th birthday. She also loves all things pink and princess and already had a princess 12" bike. The helmet seems like good quality and has staps that adjust under the chin and along the sides of the head. OUr daughter has always had a rather "large" head, so we were surprised that this helmet wobbles all over the place, no matter how we adjust the straps. It constantly falls over her eyes or to the back of her head. I can't imagine this is keeping her head very safe if she were to fall. It aggravates her and she wants to take it off a lot. I think there should be adjustable straps inside this helmet like there are inside the toddler helmet of the same design.
